When you're buying a Sanderson, and this is important for those of you who are his fans, buy the Gollanz edition. It's a little more pricey but worth it, in the end. The Mass Market Paperback back is cheaper, but it's cheaper for a reason. The book isn't bound well, the paper quality is cheap and the spine is wrinkled. Trust me.

I don’t have any cool flair, but I do wander about this subreddit quite a bit, and you may have seen me talking here and there about my love of Bas Lag or The Etched City. If you enjoy the former, you might have found your new favorite series and a profound source of inspiration. I hope I convinced you that Stormlight is a must for any modern epic fantasy fan.

i know we're supposed to hate Taravangian, but i even find him more detestable than Moash. Not sure if anyone's brought it up before, but I noticed something in Dalinar's vision of Aharietiam, when Dalinar and Yanagawn see Jezrien: “I will lead the charge for the Tranquiline Halls,” the man shouted. “You will not see me again, but think not on that now! You have won your peace. Revel in it! Rebuild.

You will see a moderate amount of Szeth, Eshonai, Jasnah, Adolin, and Navani. There will be a few surprises regarding other characters who have slightly larger places in the plot, but in general, anyone not on one of the above lists isn't allowed more than a viewpoint here or there. I like to read the Stormlight books slowly so the beta process didn't spoil anything for me in that regard. And I didn't feel like my reactions or enjoyment to the story was lessened any.
